As part of our Christmas in July Celebration this is going to make you smile as you jump for joy with all you learn in this class! Learning to piece and finish a quilt can sometimes be a frightening task. Break that down into a table runner to learn the technique and you will be a happy camper. Let’s top that off with adorable pinwheels and be super happy!

Supply List for Pinwheel Table Runner

You can make one of two sizes: a square 21 1/2” square runner or the rectangle table runner, 30”x15” like the sample in the store, for each block you will need: Your sewing machine, power cord, foot control, sewing feet listed below.

  1. 3” square blocks in one color
  2. 3” square blocks in color two

Cut the required number of sets for the table runner you are making  img-2457a.jpg

For the square table topper you need to make 12 pinwheel blocks

For the rectangle runner you need to make 14 pinwheel blocks

In addition to the above you will need the following to complete the tops:

  1. 10 1/2” square for the center (1) 20 1/2”x5 1/2” fabric for center

90” of 2 1/2” wide binding 100” of 2 1/2”wide binding cotton batting 6” bigger then finished size of runner, (see top for sizes) Also backing the same size as cotton batting,

Quilting thread, regular sewing thread, bobbins pre-wound with thread of choice.

1/4” quilting foot with guide, walking foot, all-purpose foot, foot control, sewing machine with power cord

70/11 or 12/80 machine needles, scissors, seam ripper

Rotary cutter, cutting mat, quilt ruler 6”x24”

505 spray

Binding tool

Small iron and ironing pad if you have one

If you precut everything, you will be way ahead in class, NOTE TO SELF: bring extra fabric just in case of mis-cut or not enough cut. This is great for using Christmas fabrics and to get a head start on holiday presents. I have one for Christmas and one for Easter. I made a few of these last year for Christmas gifts. These can also be made from your stash.

I will demo doing binding and finishing the ends of your binding. Come have fun, learn and get a head start on your Christmas sewing.
